       Initial Evaluation:

  • In this session, I take an in-depth interview. This is where I take the time to hear your story, how your pain started, how it affects your daily life, and what activities you want to get back to. I also determine lifestyle factors that can contribute to your symptoms/pain and provide patient education in helping to manage or eliminate your pain and improve function.

  • This is followed by an examination where I look at movement, range of motion, strength, balance, etc. I also perform specialized tests and measures that increase the validity of my orthopedic diagnosis

  • We end with a "mini" treatment session, with the intention of teaching you how to manage your symptoms and to give you some relief. A detailed home program will be provided, with pictures and explanations. With more complex movement patterns or exercises, we record the exercise, so you know exactly what to do!

Personal Training

Becoming a physical therapist has resulted in years, and I do mean years (and thousands of dollars in education) of exercise science education. Treating individuals with pain or pathology is far more complex than training a person without pain/dysfunction.

I have had 4 years of experience working with amateur athletes, which has resulted in my vast knowledge exercise. I am scientific in my schedule of when to implement exercises and when to deload/recover. Exercise programming includes the following factors:

  • Periodization: a broad term for programs that are structured to progressively overload tissues/structures in order to achieve specific training goals. it is often followed by rest periods, or a "deload" period.

  • Specificity of weights, reps, volume and frequency to achieve different fitness goals.

  • Training in specific "zones" of exertion, which get specific from exercise to exercise, but also from day to day.

  • Weekly overview to look at systemic stress on the body, ensuring you are training in way that minimizes the risk of injury.

As you can see, my education and experience has prepared me far beyond your average personal trainer. Exercise programming can seem overwhelming and exhausting, so why not let someone else do it for you?

What about equipment?

The beauty of me coming to your home is that I can help direct you with getting the right equipment for you.  We can even focus on a program that doesn't involve any equipment! The sessions will be tailored entirely to your needs and progressed within your parameters/environment.

You don't have to be an athlete to benefit from personal training sessions with a guided professional. In fact, the novice is more likely to experience a training-load error, resulting in possible injury. It also removes the pressure or fear of figuring out what to do and where to start.

So, if you are you interested in getting back into fitness, fearful of hurting yourself, or you're already active, but want a more effective program, don't hesitate to reach out! Let me help guide your journey in improving overall fitness, or whatever specific goals you may have!
